Former Graduate Student

Above all, the HEAL Lab connected me with so many wonderful researchers who I consider to be colleagues and friends, even as both me and the lab have transitioned elsewhere.

Samantha earned her MA in Psychology from Baylor University and is now pursuing a PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Arizona under the mentorship of Dr. Dave Sbarra. Her research explores the connections between social relationships, biological aging, and risk for cognitive decline.

Samantha describes her time in the HEAL Lab as “invaluable to my training and development as a scientist.” The experience allowed her to adapt her background in cognitive science to design interventions supporting caregivers, and it sparked a lasting passion for studying social relationships and health. Her research on social loss and wound healing, as well as attachment hierarchy reorganization, continues to inform her current work. Samantha also credits the HEAL Lab for introducing her to “so many wonderful researchers who I consider colleagues and friends, even as both me and the lab have transitioned elsewhere.”
